About Us

Background

My father was born on 8.11.1917 in a humble family of agriculturists in KOTNOVEL Village

Kandharava kottai area of Pudukottai district.He lost his father (our grand father)when he was 3 Years old.

Thereafter his life was fighting onerorus tasks with some assistance from great souls (Mr.Krishnamurthy Iyer,Rt.Honourable Srinivasa Sastry,Dikshiger Rathnasbapathy,Navalar Nattar to mention few)

He lost his mother (our grandmother) on 6.2.1938.He worshipped her as God.Since he aws not having any coborns he was orphaned and lonely.Imagine a 21 year old youngman orphaned without a paise and anybody to guide.In his book ‘MY HUMBLE LIFE”he says “ALL THESE UNMERITED HARDSHIPS I FAIL TO COMPREHEND........IS IT UNSCRUTABLE FATE?AFTER WASHING MY EYES OF TEARS FOR MY BELOVED MOTHER I returned to Annamalai Nagar in Feb 1938.”

However undaunted as he was ,he completed his honours and ultimately got MA.During this time he came under the influence of RT.Honourable Sastriar another great soul.Then in 1941 he joined customs house and latter he joined ANNAMALAI UNIVERSITY as lecturer.At that time he got married.

Then after a stint in Annamalai University he joined police as DSP.Then he continued there till his retirement in June 1977.Though he was well suited for the job and made his mark he aws not fully happy.This is because he could not make some compromises as demanded by some vested interests.

Moreover there was a spirit of academic interest constantly beaconing him.

After 1977 he once again returned to ANNAMALAI university where he continued upto 1980 as visiting professor TO make long stories short he spent rest of his life in contemplation and perusal of studies of his area of interst.Even though God diid give him with some more obstacles and mental agonies he withstood same.Here he proved Aristotle to be true .He says a mAn is noble if ‘WHEN A MAN ENDURES REPEATED AND SEVERE MISFORTUNE WITH PATIENCE NOT OWING TO INSENSITIVITY BUT FROM GENEOSITY AND GREATENESS OF SOUL”

WELL,HE PASSED AWAY IN 2005 DUE TO PROLONGRD SICKNESS.

IN Tamil THANGAYYAN means Lord of GOLD.HE HAD A GOLDEN HEART AND HELPED AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.HE BELONGED TO LEO RASI AND HAD LIONS HEART.

He was a devotee of Lord Shiva especially of Lord NATARAJA,He spent nearly 1 hour a day reciting

“Thiruvachagam”and ‘THEVARAM”At one point of time he knew all 133 couplets of kural by heart.He Was immense reader of Shakspere and tried to write a book on hom but could not complete.He wrote one tamil book and one English book.

Saraswathy Thangayyan

She was equal match to him in everyway.She was postgraduate of late thirties which is astounding by any standards.She was a PG In Tamil and a LT also.She continued her interest till end.She worked as lecturer and resigned the job to take care of family.She was daughter of SMT.Parvathy Subbaiah who herself was Tamil teacher.Mr.Subbaiah my grandfather my grandfather also had died in young age leaving two daughters including my mother.Thereafer it was fight all the way for my grandmother for survival.

My mother also had a very sympathetic heart and extreme appetite for knowledge.

She loved ‘ABHIRAMI ANTHATHI” very much. She also loved Holy Mother Sharada.Above all

She was a Gandhian to the core.She also translated a biographical work of Louis Fischer on Gandhi in Tamil in 1965.

She passes away in peace in 1965.
